The Chicago Botanic Garden
The Chicago Botanic Garden is a dynamic, vibrant institution which is always changing and trying new ways to get people excited about plants. I was asked to design interesting and eye-catching signs for a re-designed fruit and vegetable garden. I used a series of signs that were shaped by meticulously painted fruits and vegetables of all kinds. I learned a lot about different species of cabbages. This brought color, texture, and an organic, varied shapes that were a nice balance to the right angles of the buildings. We also created large letters out of different seeds and beans, encased in resin, which I loved for the textures but also because it reminds me of the bean and macaroni art we did as kids.
